Shelton's budget realignment page frames the district's finances as part of a statewide school-funding problem. The standing parent question: which programs, staffing and student supports stay stable as money shifts.

Shelton's Aug. 25 personnel report proposes new special-education teachers, a school counselor and student-services coordinator at SHS, plus several paraeducators. Board action and school-level service effects remain pending.

Shelton board records show continuing concern about arts and music staffing and class offerings. Final schedules, teacher assignments, and program changes remain unconfirmed.

Shelton families and community members can apply by September 13 for the district’s five-year strategic-plan steering committee. Up to five meetings run through March 2027; the first is September 22 at Mt. View Elementary.

Free summer meals, elementary summer school at Mt. View and credit recovery at Shelton High all run Monday through Thursday, June 22 to July 23. Elementary transportation is limited, so families should confirm rides and pickup with the district.

Shelton's open enrollment window opened March 1. It covers in-district elementary transfers, requests to attend another district, out-of-boundary families who want a Shelton school, the dual language program and homeschooling.

Shelton's bus-route page says routes can change year to year — stops added or removed, bus numbers changed, stops moved between routes — and times are approximate. Families are asked to be at the stop five minutes early.

Shelton's student-wellness page collects basic-needs help in one place: housing, meals, emergency shelter, utilities, diapers, clothing, school supplies, hygiene and general assistance, with local contacts for each.

Shelton school board meetings are generally the second and fourth Tuesday at 6 p.m., in person and streamed by MasonWebTV. Agendas, minutes and packets post to district document pages — where budget, policy, staffing and calendar changes usually appear first.

Shelton says a Dynamic Districts report by Upswing Labs ranked the district first in Washington for early-literacy growth, and ties the gains to its literacy instruction and the Shelton Success strategic plan.
